Jigawa gas explosion injures five, razes 22 property

A gas chamber truck which detonated on Monday harmed five people and flattened 22 houses and shops in the Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Jigawa Command, CSC Adamu Shehu, affirmed the occurrence in an explanation on Tuesday.

He said the occurrence happened when a truck weighed down with 25 gas chambers detonated in the Babura LGA of the state, it was lost in the episode to add that no life.

He said the driver of the truck wouldn’t stop while being sought after by the agents, bringing about one of the chambers tumbling off the truck and detonating fire immediately.According to him, the truck was coming from Tinkim town in the Magarya LGA of Niger Republic and was making a beeline for Hadejia LGA of Jigawa State when the episode occurred.

Shehu said, “The misfortune happened on Monday night, September 12, 2022, around 9pm. The firemen were sent from the Hadejia LGA to extinguish the fire. Five people were harmed and 17 shops and five houses were annihilated in the fire brought about by the blast.”
